Swim Lesson Instructor

The Oak Lawn Park District is now taking applications for Swim Lesson Instructors for the 2014-2015 Indoor Swim Lessons Season to begin Saturday, October 11.  Lessons are held on Saturdays between 9:30am and 2:30pm at the Richard’s High School Pool.  The Oak Lawn Park District swim program is based on the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program.  Starting wage for Swim Lesson Instructors is 9.00 per hour.  Prior Swim knowledge is required and WSI Certification is a plus.

Qualifications:

  1. 1.Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  2. 2.Friendly, outgoing personality, positive attitude and the ability to work well with others in a team oriented environment.
  3. 3.Prior swim lessons teaching experience preferred.
  4. 4.Must enjoy working with children.
  5. 5.This position is responsible for the safety of the participants in their own class.
  6. 6.Work hours as scheduled which includes beginning and ending class on time; remaining after class to answer participant and/or parent questions as needed, and clean up supplies.
  7. 7.Instructs and evaluates students participating in swim lessons
  8. 8.Submits completed report cards, skills sheets and attendance information on time.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Front Desk Attendant position is a part time non-IMRF position.  The position is responsible for assisting customers with activity registration and payment for facility usage.  The front desk attendant will work directly supervised by the Assistant Pavilion Manager.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Functions

-Checking I.D’s for memberships

-Collecting cash for services rendered

-Collecting and processing registrations

-Processing new and renewed memberships

-Answering phones, questions and patron inquiries

-Opening and closing shifts

-Activating and deactivating alarm system

-Take rental permits

-Unlocking and locking doors when building opens and closes

-Depositing money and registrations with completed batches

-Provide excellent customer service to patrons

Youth Volleyball Skills & Drills Instructor

The Community Pavilion is looking for enthusiastic instructors to teach Youth Volleyball Skills and Drills for 6-14 year olds. Individuals must possess knowledge of volleyball, be energetic, organized, creative and able to communicate with parents and participants. CPR/AED certification is a plus. RUG RATS SPORTS INSTRUCTORS

The Community Pavilion is looking for enthusiastic instructors to teach Rug Rats Sports such as T-ball, Soccer, Floor Hockey, and Football classes for 3 to 5 yr olds. Individuals must possess basic knowledge of the sports, be energetic, organized, creative and able to communicate with parents and children. CPR/AED certification is a plus. Hours are Monday/ Wednesdays from 10:00am to 12:00pm and Tuesdays and or Thursdays from 2:00-5:00pm. Pay depends on qualifications. The FLASH Recreation Leader position is a part time/seasonal position. The FLASH Recreation Leader works directly with the participants and is directly responsible for leading daily activities and interacting with the participants at their assigned FLASH location. This may include a wide variety of responsibilities including supervision of participants, the set up and clean up of snack, games, crafts and activities and to contribute to lesson plans. The ideal candidate will be mature, responsible and have a great attitude. The candidate should have the ability to effectively communicate with children and adults.

The FLASH Site Coordinator position is a part time/seasonal position. The FLASH Site Director position is directly responsible for overseeing the daily operations at their assigned FLASH school location. This will include a wide variety of responsibilities including supervision of childcare staff and participants at their particular site, weekly preparation of lesson plans, communication with participants, their parents, school personnel, and his/her direct supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 21 years or older
Experience working with children ages K-5th grade.
Supervisory experience preferred
Must be available for both morning and afternoon shifts.

Ice Arena

 Skate Guard
Applicants must have strong skating experience. The skate guards are responsible for maintaining order and enforcing rules on and off the ice.
The skate guard is responsible for handing out skates and maintaining an organized atmosphere in the skate rental room. The skate guard has a large amount of contact with the public. Guards are also responsible for general custodial duties throughout the building during every shift. Hours will include some evenings and varied weekend shifts. Full-Time Facility Technician 

The Facility Technician is responsible for the necessary tasks to maintain and operate the ice arena.  The Facility Technician will be responsible for routine custodial maintenance and general ice resurfacer maintenance.  This position requires the individual to operate the ice resurfacer; to maintain proper ice quality and to provide a clean and safe facility.  The Facility Technician will be responsible for scheduling all part time staff.  Shifts will vary throughout the week.  The ability to work a variety of shifts may be required (open, mid-day and close).  The Facility Technician will report directly to the Facility Manager. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1.At least two years experience driving an ice resurfacer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

4.Conduct facility inspections to determine security, safety and maintenance needs

5.Suggest means of eliminating deficiencies and improving procedures and policies

6.Maintain appearance and functionality of the building and the equipment

7.Operate all equipment needed to complete maintenance and repair tasks

8.Assist in preparation of the maintenance portion of the Ice Arena annual budget

9.Develop routine maintenance schedules for the facility with the facility manager

10.All other duties as assigned

Cheer Tumbling Lead Instructor Wanted
The Oak Lawn Park District is now accepting applications for a lead instructor position for Cheer Tumbling classes. Must be an experienced high level tumbling coach who has strong leadership skills and strong knowledge of cheerleading. Pirouettes Gymnastics program is looking for someone who loves working with pre-teens & teenagers in a friendly work environment with motivated staff in a professional setting. Note: If you are not a current student studying recreation, sports management or a related field you DO NOT qualify for an internship at the Oak Lawn Park District.
 
The Oak Lawn Park District is seeking qualified students interested in an internship in the field of Recreation, Sports Management or a related field. Candidates will currently be attending college or be a recent graduate with a major in recreation, outdoor recreation or related field.

Candidates must be responsible, motivated, should have the ability to manage time effectively and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Candidates should possess the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under the supervision of the administrative staff. The student will assist with the administration, supervision, and leadership of specified recreation and leisure activities of the internship. The duration of the internship is 12-16 weeks, but will ultimately be determined by the intern's school requirements. It is the student's responsibility to verify with their professors if the internship qualifies for college credit. Candidates should be prepared to work with children and adults. Candidates should have a valid driver's license and have transportation to work
The Oak Lawn Park District has positions available at the Oak View Center and the Community Pavilion.

An intern can expect to get a wide variety of experiences by working at the Oak Lawn Park District Racquet, Fitness & Gymnastics Center, Stony Creek Golf Complex, Oak View Center, Community Pavilion, and Ice Arena. Applicants will be formally interviewed before an internship is offered. They will also be assigned to special events, athletics, community events, administrative tasks and other projects as necessary.
 
Final intern selections for each season will be made by the following dates: 
Spring Internship: December 1st
Summer Internship: April 1st
Fall Internship: July 1st
