Essential Job Functions

Instructors are responsible for planning and providing a safe, informative and inclusive environment for all swimmers in your class. 
Able to successfully introduce, teach and demonstrate all swimming techniques for the level you are assigned to.

Responsibilities

All Lesson Instructors are responsible for the following, including, but not limited to:

  1. Constant surveillance of the students during the lesson.
  2. Complete enforcement and understanding of all pool rules.
  3. Take all measure in providing a safe, healthy and enjoyable atmosphere for all patrons.
  4. Comply with requests of the staff in reference to efficient pool operation.
  5. Recognize the skill level of each swimmer and instruct him/her to the appropriate location in the pool.
  6. Demonstrate a safety consciousness at all times both with patrons and other staff members.
  7. Demonstrate a positive attitude at all times when dealing with the public.
  8. NEVER …EVER leave the pool and specifically your station unattended while someone is in the water.
  9. Act in a professional manner at all times, whenever at a pool facility.

Wage:  $8.00 an hour for group lessons.  $10 an hour for private lessons

Lifeguard – Summer Outdoor

 

The role of the guard with the Oak Lawn Park District is diversified and essential to the personal safety of all swimmers.  This job is one which runs the gamut of part-time “maintenance man” to full-time “parent.”  Yet, it is one of those jobs that what you take away from your experience is incalculable.

 

Qualifications

1.  American Red Cross Lifeguard, Standard First Aid and CPR Certified.Mandatory*

 

* The Oak Lawn Park District is offering a Lifeguard Training Class.  All participants that complete that course will be given priority in summer employment with the park district for lifeguard positions. 

 

2.  American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) – Preferred

 

 

Position: Part-time; seasonal.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Able to successfully complete all training programs and required rescue techniques.
  2. Responsible for wearing corrective eye wear as needed to maintain 20/30 binocular vision.
  3. Ability to hear without assistance in order to identify a drowning victim and rescue them.

 

 

Responsibilities

All guards are responsible for the following, including, but not limited to:

  1. Constant surveillance of the facility during operational hours.
  2. Complete enforcement and understanding of all pool rules.
  3. Take all measure in providing a safe, healthy and enjoyable atmosphere for all patrons.
  4. Administer First Aid as deemed necessary, complete Accident/Incident Reports properly.
  5. Knowledgeable in other positions duties to be able to fill in at times of need.
  6. Comply with requests of staff in reference to efficient pool operation.
  7. Recognize the skill level of each swimmer and instruct him/her to the appropriate location in the pool.
  8. Report any and all repairs, hazardous situations, etc. to staff.
  9. Demonstrate a safety consciousness at all times both with patrons and other staff members.
  10. Demonstrate a positive attitude at all times when dealing with the public.
  11. NEVER …EVER leave the pool and specifically your station unattended while someone is in the water.
  12. Act in a professional manner at all times, whenever at a pool facility.

 

Wage:

Depends upon Qualifications – newly certified lifeguards start at minimum wage.

Volleyball Referee
Department:
Pavilion
Qualifications:
1. 18 years old and older
2. Work all scheduled hours
3. Know all the rules pertaining to the league and enforce them
- Different age groups and skill levels will have different rules.
4. Enforce and abide by the Oak Lawn Park District policies and general rules
5. When working with youth, be sure to explain all calls, as they are new to the game.

Starting Wage: $12.00 to $15.00

Personal Trainer
Personal Trainer wanted, training at the Oak Lawn Park District Community Pavilion located on 9401 S. Oak Park Ave. (Oak Lawn). Trainer must have a current personal training certification. Must be willing to work days or nights, and be CPR/AED & first aid certified or able to obtain certification upon hiring. Trainers responsible for developing a fitness program based on the client’s needs and conducting weight room orientations. The pay scale depends on experience. Softball Field Supervisor

Looking for mature individuals to be responsible for the daily operations and control of the Softball games as assigned.
The Softball Field Supervisor is under the direct supervision of the Assistant Pavilion Manager.
They are to act as liaison between Assistant Manager, the teams and the Umpires.

Pay is $7.75 – $8.75 per hour.
