Essential Job Functions
Instructors are responsible for planning and providing a safe, informative and inclusive environment for all swimmers in your class. 
Able to successfully introduce, teach and demonstrate all swimming techniques for the level you are assigned to.

Responsibilities
All Lesson Instructors are responsible for the following, including, but not limited to:

  1. Constant surveillance of the students during the lesson.
  2. Complete enforcement and understanding of all pool rules.
  3. Take all measure in providing a safe, healthy and enjoyable atmosphere for all patrons.
  4. Comply with requests of the staff in reference to efficient pool operation.
  5. Recognize the skill level of each swimmer and instruct him/her to the appropriate location in the pool.
  6. Demonstrate a safety consciousness at all times both with patrons and other staff members.
  7. Demonstrate a positive attitude at all times when dealing with the public.
  8. NEVER …EVER leave the pool and specifically your station unattended while someone is in the water.
  9. Act in a professional manner at all times, whenever at a pool facility.

Wage:  $8.00 an hour for group lessons.  $10 an hour for private lessons

Community Pavilion
 
RUG RATS SPORTS INSTRUCTORS

The Community Pavilion is looking for enthusiastic instructors to teach Rug Rats Soccer and T-ball classes for 3 to 5 yr olds. Individuals must possess basic knowledge of the sports, be energetic, organized, creative and able to communicate with parents and children. CPR/AED certification is a plus. Hours are Tuesdays and or Thursdays from 2:30 to 5:30. Pay is $7.75-$8.75 per hour. Interested candidates can complete an application at the Community Pavilion, 9401 S. Softball Field Supervisor

Looking for mature individuals to be responsible for the daily operations and control of the Softball games as assigned. The Softball Field Supervisor is under the direct supervision of the Assistant Pavilion Manager. This individual will act as liaison between, Assistant Manager, the teams and the Umpires. CPR Instructor

The Oak Lawn Park District is looking for a qualified American Heart Basic Life Support instructor to train staff and conduct courses for public. Hours are flexible and can be arranged according to individuals schedule. Classes will be held at various park district facilities. Park District will provide equipment needed to conduct the trainings. The individual will report directly the Assistant Pavilion Manager. Salary is negotiable. Group Fitness Instructors

The Oak Lawn Park District’s Community Pavilion is looking for Group Fitness Instructors. We are located on 9401 S. Oak Park Ave. The instructor must be energetic and be certified in Group Fitness. There are a variety of classes for all ages. The pay scale will range from $25-$30 per class depending on experience. Start Smart Sports Instructors

The Community Pavilion is looking for mature instructors to teach The NYSCA Start Smart Sports Development Program for 3 to 5 yr olds and their Parents. Individuals must possess basic knowledge of the sports of Baseball and Soccer, be energetic, organized, creative and able to communicate with parents and children. CPR/AED certification is a plus. POSITION - FLASH Leaders (2 to 8 jobs available)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The FLASH Leader is a part time positions located at School District 123 elementary schools and other Park District facilities. The leader reports directly to the Site Director and Recreation Supervisor. The leader is responsible for daily implementation of the program and assisting in scheduling activities and supervising children, within the guidelines of the FLASH goals and philosophy.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be 16 years old
• Some experience in working with children ages 5-11.
• Ability to effectively supervise and participate in programs with participants.
• Ability to be creative in delivery of recreation activities.
• Understand and exhibit behavior consistent with stated values of the Oak Lawn Park District.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with children, the general public, parents and fellow staff members.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work before and/or after school hours ranging from 6:45am – 8:30am and 3pm – 6:30pm, Monday – Friday.
• Significant involvement in leading activities and interacting with children in the FLASH program.
• Communicate with participants, their parents, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Some involvement planning, and organizing a multi-recreational program for grades K-5.
• Required to participate in all planned activities on a daily basis.
• Contribute to weekly preparation of lesson plans, newsletters and snack calendars.
• Some involvement with staff, parents, school and park district personnel.
• Insure the safety of participants at all times.
• Complete and turn in all necessary forms on a weekly basis (Accident Reports, ect).
• Must attend weekly site meetings and monthly full staff meetings.
• Adhere to rules and policies of the Oak Lawn Park District, School District 123, and the FLASH program.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The FLASH Site Director is a part time position working directly under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor/FLASH Director. This staff member also is directly responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of FLASH. This may include a wide variety of responsibilities including staff recruitment and training, program supervision and leadership responsibilities, site and program evaluation.

QUALIFICATIONS
The FLASH Assistant Director/Site Director must be at least 21 years of age. The candidate must also have experience in working with children and had experience in a supervisory role.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work program hours before and after school ranging from 6:45am – 8:30am and 3pm – 6:30pm, Monday – Friday. Will also have around 10 hours per week outside of program time for planning.
2. Responsible for the leadership of FLASH Leaders and participants at FLASH sites.
3. Responsible for the weekly preparation of lesson plans
4. Put together monthly newsletters and snack calendars with help from Program Supervisor, other site director(s) and Leader(s).
5. Must attend all weekly supervisor meetings and monthly full staff meetings.
6. Must hold weekly meetings for the staff at their site.
7. Maintain daily attendance records for participants in the program and find any missing children.
8. Complete and turn in all necessary forms on a weekly basis (Accident Reports, Situation Reports, Absent Reports, Late Pick-Up Reports, etc.).
9. Insure the safety of participants at all times.
10. Communicate with participants, their parents, school personnel, staff, co-workers, and supervisors.
11. Perform First Aid and CPR as needed.
12. Responsible for two evaluations of site staff (mid-year and year-end).
13. Adhere to rules and policies of the Oak Lawn Park District and the FLASH program, as well as enforce the rules with staff.
14. Must attend complete staff orientation prior to the start of FLASH.
15. Pick-up supplies and materials from the Community Pavilion and deliver them to FLASH site.
16. Complete special projects as assigned.
17. Assure compliance with all federal and state standards regarding personnel administration and the American with Disabilities Act.
