Responsibilities
All Lesson Instructors
are responsible for the following, including, but not limited to:

Constant surveillance
of the students during the lesson.

Complete enforcement
and understanding of all pool rules.

Take all measure in
providing a safe, healthy and enjoyable atmosphere for all patrons.

Comply with requests
of the staff in reference to efficient pool operation.

Recognize the skill
level of each swimmer and instruct him/her to the appropriate location
in the pool.

Demonstrate a safety
consciousness at all times both with patrons and other staff members.

Demonstrate a
positive attitude at all times when dealing with the public.

NEVER
EVER leave the
pool and specifically your station unattended while someone is in the
water.

Act in a professional
manner at all times, whenever at a pool facility.
Wage:

The FLASH Leader is a part time positions located at School District 123
elementary schools and other Park District facilities. The leader reports
directly to the Site Director and Recreation Supervisor. The leader is
responsible for daily implementation of the program and assisting in
scheduling activities and supervising children, within the guidelines of
the FLASH goals and philosophy.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 16 years old
Some experience in working with children ages 5-11.
Ability to effectively supervise and participate in programs with
participants.
Ability to be creative in delivery of recreation activities.
Understand and exhibit behavior consistent with stated values of the Oak
Lawn Park District.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with
children, the general public, parents and fellow staff members.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Work before and/or after school hours ranging from 6:45am 8:30am and
3pm 6:30pm, Monday Friday.
Significant involvement in leading activities and interacting with
children in the FLASH program.
Communicate with participants, their parents, co-workers, and
supervisors.
Some involvement planning, and organizing a multi-recreational program
for grades K-5.
Required to participate in all planned activities on a daily basis.
Contribute to weekly preparation of lesson plans, newsletters and snack
calendars.
Some involvement with staff, parents, school and park district
personnel.
Insure the safety of participants at all times.
Complete and turn in all necessary forms on a weekly basis (Accident
Reports, ect).
Must attend weekly site meetings and monthly full staff meetings.
Adhere to rules and policies of the Oak Lawn Park District, School

The FLASH Site Director is a part time position working directly under the

age. The candidate must also have experience in working with children and
had experience in a supervisory role.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

and 3pm 6:30pm, Monday Friday. Will also have around 10 hours per week
outside of program time for planning.
