• Co-Ed Youth Basketball Leagues - Registration has been extended for the Oak Lawn Park District’s Co-Ed Youth Basketball Leagues.  Leagues are open to girls and boys ages 5 – 8. This program offers instruction, as well as competitive basketball games.  Team play and sportsmanship will be stressed.  Age divisions are as of September 1, 2011. Teams will practice in December and league play will begin in January. Fee is $79 for Oak Lawn residents and $105 for non-residents. Registration deadline is November 25. • Family Fun Night at the Oak Lawn Ice Arena – Bring the whole family out to the Oak Lawn Park District’s Ice Arena (9320 S. Kenton) on Sunday, November 25 from 3-6 pm. Enjoy a family open skate, music provided by CMT Productions D.J. Service and a competitive skating exhibition.  Staff will be on hand to help you enjoy the lifetime sport of ice-skating. Admission is $1.00 and skate rental is free (while supplies last). For more information, please call the Oak Lawn Ice Arena at 708-857-5173.
 
 
• Christmas Through The Years At White Fence Farms – Join the Oak Lawn Park District for an afternoon at White Fence Farms in Romeoville on Thursday, December 8.  Take a holiday journey from the 1900’s to present day with the Mestas family.  They will perform songs from the different eras, tell heartwarming stories, all while wearing costumes to match! Lunch will include chicken, cole slaw, kidney bean salad, pickled beets, baked potato, homemade chicken gravy, choice of beverage and vanilla ice cream for dessert. The motor coach bus will depart the Community Pavilion, 9401 S. Oak Park Ave., at 11 am and return at 4 pm. Fee for this trip is $65 for Oak Lawn residents and $75 non-residents. • New Year’s Eve Comedy Night - The Oak Lawn Park District’s Stony Creek Clubhouse is hosting a 21 and over Comedy Night on New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31, 2011. Doors open at 7:30 pm with dinner at 8 pm and entertainment beginning at 9:30 pm. There will be a champagne toast at midnight. Admission for the show is $20 at the door.  Dinner is available for $11, with your choice of steak or chicken. Dinner reservation deadline is December 27. There will also be a cash bar and appetizer menu available during the show. Please contact Mary Grana at 708/857-2433 x2301 for more information.
 
 
• Casting Call: Sweeney Todd  - The Oak Lawn Park District Theatre group has announced a casting call for its upcoming production of Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Auditions will be held Sunday, January 8 from 6-9:30 pm and Monday, January 9 from 7:30-10:30 pm. All those auditioning must be prepared to sing a song from the show and come dressed in proper attire. Auditions will be held at the Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th Street and are open to those ages 16 & older. Sweeney Todd will run for two consecutive weekends, March 16-18 & March 23-25. Tickets for this production are available at the Oak View Center. Prices are $21 for adult and $20 for seniors (60 & up) and children (12 & under). • Woodfield Mall & IKEA Trip – Join the Oak Lawn Park District as we head back to the original IKEA and Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg on Friday, January 20.  Enjoy a day of shopping at this 3-story mall and then hop onboard the free trolley and head to the other exciting stores on the way over to IKEA. Lunch is on your own. The motor coach bus will depart the Community Pavilion, 9401 S. Oak Park Ave., at 9 am and return at 5 pm. Fee for this trip is $25 for Oak Lawn residents and $35 non-residents. • Stony Creek Golf Course – Visit www.golfstonycreek.com <http://www.golfstonycreek.com>  for daily specials! Join us at Stony Creek during these cold, wet days and play golf on our Golf Simulator. $20/hour/Adult, $16/hour/Senior. Buy three hours, get 4th hour FREE! It is our way to help you save money. • Dog Park Memberships - Memberships are available for purchase now at the Community Pavilion & the Oak View Center. Fee is per family, not per dog (up to three dogs per membership). Resident Fee: 1 year - $50
Non-Resident Fee: 1 year - $100
 
 
• Before & After School With FLASH – FLASH, Fun & Learning After School Hours - Register now for the 2011/2012 school year. The Oak Lawn Park District has partnered up with School District 123 and is in all 5 elementary schools, Covington, Hannum, Hometown, Kolmar, & Sward.  The park district has also partnered up with School District 122 and their 4 elementary schools, Columbus Manor, Harnew, Kolb, & Lieb. • Community Pavilion Main Arena Rental - Attention high schools, colleges and businesses: Have your special event with us! The Oak Lawn Park District’s Community Pavilion is available for rentals. The arena measures 28,000 sq. ft. and can seat up to 1,000 people at tables and chairs, or 3,500 with chairs only.  Reservations must be made at least six months in advance with 50% down.  Payment is non-refundable after 90 days. Contact the assistant manager at (708) 857-2420 or pavilion@olparks.com.
 
 
• Indoor Playground at the Community Pavilion  - The indoor playground is available for parties: Playground rental is $45 per hour with a max of 25 children.  Rental includes tables and chairs. Renter is responsible for all party decorations and refreshments (no confetti please). Add a basketball court for $20 per hour for residents and $40 per hour for non-residents. Rent a Jump House for $25. Call 708-857-2420 for more information about daily fees and party package prices.
 
 
• Massage Therapy at the Community Pavilion - Sandra Coffey is available by appointment only. Massage therapy is used to reduce stress, increase circulation and detoxify overexerted muscles. Open to men and women. A parent or guardian must accompany children under age 12. There is a 24-hour cancellation policy. To schedule a massage, call 708/857-2420.
 
 
• Personal Training at the Community Pavilion - Meet with a certified Personal Trainer who will design a program to improve your cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance. Increase flexibility, improve body image, lose weight, and-in general-just make you feel good about yourself.  Call for an appointment:  (708) 857-2420.

...There is a combination of 32 parks and facilities owned and operated by the Oak Lawn Park District which cover a total of 294.19 acres.

...The Oak Lawn Park District’s operating budget for 2006/07 is $8.4 million. Capital projects budget and debt service is $5.9 million. The fiscal year of the District runs from May 1st to April 30th.

...The Park District employs a staff of 50 full time and 221 part time employees. There are approximately 224 seasonal employees, which fluctuates with the season.

...The Park District offers a myriad of recreational programs and services to the 50,000 + residents of Oak Lawn, from tiny tots to senior citizens.

...The Oak Lawn Park District is a municipal corporation and is not part of the Village. We are our own taxing body.

...Four times a year the Park District mails a program brochure describing its programs and special events to all the residences in Oak Lawn.

...Park District operates:

...The 3 enterprise funds are the Ice Arena, Racquet Club, and Golf Course. The Pavilion is part of the recreation fund. Other Park District buildings include an Administrative Center; the Oak View Recreation Center, which houses staff and recreation programs; David Johnston Center used for the teen center, rentals and West Side Baseball; Menard Activity Center for programs and rentals; Brick Building, currently the home of the Children’s Museum; Little White School House located in Lake Shore Park used for recreation programs; and the Maintenance business office and garage.

...The Park District manages a Special Recreation Cooperative Agreement offering recreational programs and services to individuals with disabilities in 11 municipalities

...Our 2 natural areas are: Chicago Ridge Prairie located at 105th and Menard and Wolfe Wildlife Refuge located at 109th & Laramie. They feature walking/jogging/bicycle paths, wetlands and nature studies.

...The Cultural Arts Department of the Park District has a theatre program which offer 4 plays each year. There are also concerts featuring the different levels of the adult and children chorale groups.

...Largest park is Centennial Park at 38.5 acres

...The Oak Lawn Park District operates under the state tax cap

...Approximately 30,000 rounds of golf are played at Stony Creek Golf Course each year.

...Stony Creek is our revenue generating facility and is one of the 3 enterprise funds.

...We have received over  $374,000 dollars of grant money in the past 3 years.

...We employ approximately 181 teens throughout the year, particularly during the summer months.

...The only facility where alcohol is served is the golf course.
