SUMMER GUIDE & REGISTRATION INFO. 

 

Residents! Look for the Summer 2013 Program Guide in your mailbox the week of April 22nd.

 

The registration dates are as follows:

General Resident Registration:  Monday, May 6

General Non-Resident Registration:  Monday, May 20 

This just in! Registration for Full Summer Day Camp and Camp Sunshine only has been moved up to April 15th for residents and April 29th for non-residents. Registration for these camps will only be accepted at the Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th St.

Earth Day Celebration 2013

Celebrate Earth Day with the Oak Lawn Park District and Village of Oak Lawn on Saturday, April 27th, from 10:00am - 1:00pm, at Wolfe Wildlife Refuge located at 109th St. and Lawler Ave.

Participate in all of the following family-fun activities: Big Run Wolves, Jim Nesci's Cold Blooded Creatures, hybrid and alternative fuel vehicle show, tree climbing demo, tree planting demo, kids activities and more. FREE admission, raffles and giveaways!

There will also be a prescription medication take back collection and a dog vendor with product for purchase.

Stay a little later and get a free tour of Wolfe Wildlife Refuge and Chicago Ridge Prairie, 105th & Menard Ave. with Prairie Consultant, Lou Mule', who specializes in prairie restoration and maintenance.

Oak Lawn Park District Preschool Registration

Registration is currently being accepted for the Oak Lawn Park District's Preschool classes.

Learn as you Grow I and Playschool is for 3 year olds. Sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays, September through December, 2013 and January through May 2014. Times are 9:00-11:30 am or 12:00 - 2:30 pm.

Learn As You Grow I will be held at the Little White Building, 9514 S. 54th Avenue, and Playschool will be held at the Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th Street. The fee is $670 for residents and $752 for non-residents. There are three payment options available and a $50 non-refundable deposit is included in the fee.

Learn as you Grow II and Prep School is for 4 year olds. Sessions are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from September through December, 2013 and January through May, 2014 and runs from 9:00-11:30 am or 12:30-2:30 pm at the Little White Building, 9514 S. 54th Avenue. Prep School runs from 9:00-11:30 am or 12:00-2:30 pm at the Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th Street. The fee is $1,000 for residents and $1124 for non-residents. There are three payment options available and a $50 non-refundable deposit is included in the fee.

Bridge Club

Attention bridge players! The Oak Lawn Park District is offering Duplicate Bridge every Monday at 11:30am, at the Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th St. The cost per person is $ 7.00 per person and includes a light lunch. All ages are welcome!

OVERNIGHT! Pella Tulip Festival & Meskwaki Casino,  

Tama & Pella Iowa 

Join us for an exciting three day get away to central Iowa. At Riverside Casino, you can "live it up" at over 1200 slot machines, 24 blackjack tables, poker, craps, roulette and more. What A Glorious Feeling Show & Lunch

Join us at Theatre at the Center for this new dance musical by Jay Berkow inspired by TRUE events. It brings to life the tempestuous love triangle behind the scenes during the filming of the beloved movie musical, Singing in the Rain. Gene Kelly, the star and co-director is in love with his assistant, Jeanne Coyne, the ex-wife of his co-director Stanley Donen. The show features great songs and dance routines from the film. Important real-life figures are also part of the fun-young Debbie Reynolds and producer/songwriter Arthur Freed.Lunch menu Spring greens w/champagne viniagerette dressing, mashed red potatoes, peas & carrots, choice of Lemon Chicken Breast or Roast Loin of Pork. Don has been a Commissioner of the Oak Lawn Park District since 1977.

The staff at the Oak Lawn Park District appreciates all the work Don does for the agency and for the parks and recreation field.

...There is a combination of 32 parks and facilities owned and operated by the Oak Lawn Park District which cover a total of 294.19 acres.

...The Oak Lawn Park District’s operating budget for 2006/07 is $8.4 million. Capital projects budget and debt service is $5.9 million. The fiscal year of the District runs from May 1st to April 30th.

...The Park District employs a staff of 50 full time and 221 part time employees. There are approximately 224 seasonal employees, which fluctuates with the season.

...The Park District offers a myriad of recreational programs and services to the 50,000 + residents of Oak Lawn, from tiny tots to senior citizens.

...The Oak Lawn Park District is a municipal corporation and is not part of the Village. We are our own taxing body.

...Four times a year the Park District mails a program brochure describing its programs and special events to all the residences in Oak Lawn.

...Park District operates:

bullet1 indoor ice arena, a 12-month state of the art facility
bullet1 pavilion with weight room/exercise equipment, 4 indoor basketball courts and 4 volleyball courts

bullet1 golf course, 18-hole, adjacent to a driving range and miniature golf course and  clubhouse which seats 100

...We maintain 20 parks, 14 tot lots, 19 baseball fields, 6 picnic areas, 6 sand volleyball courts, 7 soccer fields, 16 outdoor basketball courts, 1 bike path, and 1 museum.

...The 3 enterprise funds are the Ice Arena, Racquet Club, and Golf Course. The Pavilion is part of the recreation fund. Other Park District buildings include an Administrative Center; the Oak View Recreation Center, which houses staff and recreation programs; David Johnston Center used for the teen center, rentals and West Side Baseball; Menard Activity Center for programs and rentals; Brick Building, currently the home of the Children’s Museum; Little White School House located in Lake Shore Park used for recreation programs; and the Maintenance business office and garage.

...The Park District manages a Special Recreation Cooperative Agreement offering recreational programs and services to individuals with disabilities in 11 municipalities

...Our 2 natural areas are: Chicago Ridge Prairie located at 105th and Menard and Wolfe Wildlife Refuge located at 109th & Laramie. They feature walking/jogging/bicycle paths, wetlands and nature studies.

...The Cultural Arts Department of the Park District has a theatre program which offer 4 plays each year. There are also concerts featuring the different levels of the adult and children chorale groups.

...Largest park is Centennial Park at 38.5 acres

...The Oak Lawn Park District operates under the state tax cap

...Approximately 30,000 rounds of golf are played at Stony Creek Golf Course each year.

...Stony Creek is our revenue generating facility and is one of the 3 enterprise funds.

...We have received over  $374,000 dollars of grant money in the past 3 years.

...We employ approximately 181 teens throughout the year, particularly during the summer months.

...The only facility where alcohol is served is the golf course.
