• Winter Holiday Break Fun Camp – The Oak Lawn Park District is offering a fun Winter Break Holiday camp for those in grades 1- 8. The camp is three days – Monday, December 28, Tuesday, December 29 and Wednesday, December 30 from 9 am – 2:20 pm at the Oak View Center (4625 W. 110th). Sign up for one, two or all three days. Have some holiday fun participating in many activities. Each day, holiday crafts will be made, movies will be shown and our Summer Day Camp Staff will run lots of group games and activities. Bring a lunch with a beverage and wear comfortable clothes and gym shoes. Fee for each day is $24 for Oak Lawn residents and $27 for non-residents. For more information, call 708-857-2200.


• Before & After School With FLASH
Registration is under way for the new before and after school program created by School District 123 & the Oak Lawn Park District - FLASH. Flash is dedicated to providing safe, healthy, fun and recreational opportunities to all children during the program. For schedule information, please visit www.olparks.com.

Hours: Before school: 7:00 am until school begins
After school: School dismissal until 6:00 pm

• An Irish New Year’s Celebration - Ring in the New Year at Ireland’s time on Thursday, December 31 at the Oak Lawn Park District’s Stony Creek Clubhouse (5850 W. 103rd). Enjoy a traditional Irish meal with corned beef, cabbage and authentic boiled potatoes-buffet style. Doors open at 4 pm and the buffet will begin at 4:30 pm. At 6 pm raise your glass while an Irish Bagpiper will ring in the New Year at Ireland’s time. Fee for this event is $19 (adults only). A cash bar will be available. • New Years’ Eve Kids’ Countdown and Family Skate!

On Thursday, December 31st the Oak Lawn Park District will host a New Years’ Eve Kids’ Countdown and Family Skate at the Oak Lawn Park District Ice Arena (9320 S. Kenton Ave., Oak Lawn, IL 60453) from 11 am - 1:30 pm. Come party at this special family skate. Skating participants will receive a New Year’s Eve-style party hat and noisemaker to help cheer in 2010. Karel King - DJ and Entertainer, will provide great music and lighting. This is a very popular event. Please come early to ensure you will have time to get your skates on and be on the ice to celebrate. Admission at the door is $8.00 per skater and $1.00 per non-skating participant (no party favors). Skate rental is $3.00. No coupons, passes, discounts or refunds. • Casting Call: Curtains auditions to be held in Oak Lawn - The Oak Lawn Park District Theatre group has announced a casting call for its upcoming production of Curtains. Auditions will be held Monday, January 4 and Tuesday, January 5 at 7:30 pm. Come in proper attire and be prepared to sing a song from the show. Auditions will be held at the Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th Street and are open to those in high school (with proper ID) & older. Curtains will run for two consecutive weekends, March 12-14 and March 19-21. Tickets for this production are available at the Oak View Center. Prices are $21 for adult and $20 for seniors and children (12 & under). For more information on auditions or the production, call the Oak Lawn Park District at (708) 857-2200.


• Preschool Registration – There are still limited spaces available for the Oak Lawn Park District’s spring term of the 2009/2010 preschool programs. The park district offers affordable, quality preschool classes for 3- to 5-year-olds. The preschool programs—Learn As You Grow I, Learn As You Grow II, Play School and Prep School—are offered at the Oak View Center (4625 W. 110th St.) and the Little White Building in Lake Shore Park (96th Street and East Shore Drive) and are taught by qualified instructors. Fee for preschool programs for 3 year olds is $670 Oak Lawn residents and $752 for non-residents. Fee for preschool programs for 4 year olds is $1000 Oak Lawn residents and $1124 for non-residents. • Visit the Indoor Playground at the Community Pavilion

If you have to stay inside, than play inside! The Oak Lawn Park District’s indoor playground will be available for use any time the Community Pavilion (9401 S. Oak park Ave.) is open for business. Open gym fees apply and a parent or guardian must be present with their child or children at all times. The indoor playground is a non-park district staff supervised area. The indoor playground is also now available to rent for parties. It can be rented alone or with a court to expand your party. Parties must be booked at least two weeks in advance. Call 708-857-2420 for more information about daily fees and party package prices.


• Massage Therapy at the Community Pavilion - Sandra Coffey is available by appointment only. Massage therapy is used to reduce stress, increase circulation and detoxify overexerted muscles. Open to men and women. A parent or guardian must accompany children under age 12. There is a 24-hour cancellation policy. To schedule a massage, call 708/857-2420.


• Personal Training at the Community Pavilion - Meet with a certified Personal Trainer who will design a program to improve your cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance. Increase flexibility, improve body image, lose weight, and-in general-just make you feel good about yourself. Call for an appointment: (708) 857-2420.

...There is a combination of 32 parks and facilities owned and operated by the Oak Lawn Park District which cover a total of 294.19 acres.

...The Oak Lawn Park District’s operating budget for 2006/07 is $8.4 million. Capital projects budget and debt service is $5.9 million. The fiscal year of the District runs from May 1st to April 30th.

...The Park District employs a staff of 50 full time and 221 part time employees. There are approximately 224 seasonal employees, which fluctuates with the season.

...The Park District offers a myriad of recreational programs and services to the 50,000 + residents of Oak Lawn, from tiny tots to senior citizens.

...The Oak Lawn Park District is a municipal corporation and is not part of the Village. We are our own taxing body.

...Four times a year the Park District mails a program brochure describing its programs and special events to all the residences in Oak Lawn.

...Park District operates:

bullet1 indoor ice arena, a 12-month state of the art facility

...The 3 enterprise funds are the Ice Arena, Racquet Club, and Golf Course. The Pavilion is part of the recreation fund. Other Park District buildings include an Administrative Center; the Oak View Recreation Center, which houses staff and recreation programs; David Johnston Center used for the teen center, rentals and West Side Baseball; Menard Activity Center for programs and rentals; Brick Building, currently the home of the Children’s Museum; Little White School House located in Lake Shore Park used for recreation programs; and the Maintenance business office and garage.

...The Park District manages a Special Recreation Cooperative Agreement offering recreational programs and services to individuals with disabilities in 11 municipalities

...Our 2 natural areas are: Chicago Ridge Prairie located at 105th and Menard and Wolfe Wildlife Refuge located at 109th & Laramie. They feature walking/jogging/bicycle paths, wetlands and nature studies.

...The Cultural Arts Department of the Park District has a theatre program which offer 4 plays each year. There are also concerts featuring the different levels of the adult and children chorale groups.

...Largest park is Centennial Park at 38.5 acres

...The Oak Lawn Park District operates under the state tax cap

...Approximately 30,000 rounds of golf are played at Stony Creek Golf Course each year.

...Stony Creek is our revenue generating facility and is one of the 3 enterprise funds.

...We have received over  $374,000 dollars of grant money in the past 3 years.

...We employ approximately 181 teens throughout the year, particularly during the summer months.

...The only facility where alcohol is served is the golf course.
