Oak Lawn Park District Day Camp

Welcome to the Oak Lawn Park District Summer Youth Day Camp! The Oak Lawn Park District prides itself in providing a fun-filled, safe and affordable camp experience for your child.

Vision Statement of the Oak Lawn Park District: The vision of the Oak Lawn Park District is to create an environment that promotes happiness among staff and patrons.

Mission Statement of the Oak Lawn Park District: The Oak Lawn Park District promotes a strong sense of community by providing leisure Opportunities and the preservation of natural resources that enhances the quality of life and wellness for everyone.

Healthy Lifestyle Statement: The Oak Lawn Park District Day Camp strives to promote healthy living for our community by providing participants with opportunities to improve their physical and mental health in a fun and social environment. We provide healthy snacks to give kids the nutrients and energy they need to keep their bodies running strong and smart. Daily indoor and outdoor activities offer endless ways for children to get physical exercise, socialize, and have fun.

Registration Dates for Summer Day Camp

  • Registration begins February 6th for Residents
  • Registration begins February 20th for Non-Residents
  • Early Bird Registration Ends April 30th

  • Monday 6/05, at 6pm, at Oak View Center (4625 W. 110th St.)
  • Meet day camp site directors and staff, enjoy a short informational presentation, followed by a question and answer session. Kids welcome!
 
Preschool Camp Sunshine
  • Tuesday 6/06, b/t 6-6:45pm, at Little White Building (9514 S. 54th Ave.)
  • Meet the preschool camp site director and staff, check out the facility, and ask questions! Kids welcome!

Time: 8:45-11:45am or 12:15-3:15pm
Location: Little White Building(9514 S. 54th Avenue)
Description: Camp Sunshine is geared for children aged 3-5 years of age. Your child will have a blast here! Each day something new and exciting happens. Camp Sunshine is filled with arts and crafts, games, songs, natures walks, special guests and events.  This is a great experience to prepare children for their Fall preschool program. Children must be the required age by the start date of camp and must be potty trained. Staff to camper ratio is 1:5.

Youth Day Camp(entering 2nd grade-5th grade)
 
Time: 8:30am-2:30pm
Location: Oak View Center(4625 W. 110th St.) or David Johnston Center(9400 S. Oak Park Ave.)
Description: Don't miss out on all the action this Summer! Enjoy a full day of excitement as we play games, sports, arts and crafts, special events and guests. Campers will go swimming at least once a week and will have 2 planned field trips every session.  Camper should be at least age 7 by start date of camp. Staff to camper ratio is 1:10.

Description: Camp Runamuck is designed for campers entering Kindergarten and 1st grade and includes field trips, themed weeks, special events, cookouts, swimming, crafts, games and more! Staff to camper ratio is 1:10.

Teen Camp(entering 6th grade-8th grade)

Description: Teen camp has been designed for teens who are looking for new and exciting things to do this summer. Campers will enjoy 1 field trip a week, swimming 2 to 3 times a week, as well as, a mixture of sports, games, team building, crafts and much more. Camper should enjoy the outdoors and work well with others. Teen camp is for 6th - 8th graders.

Before and Extended Camp

 

Early Riser Before Camp(entering K - 8th grade)
 
Time: 7:00-8:30am
Location: Oak View Center(4625 W. 110th St.)
Description:
Campers participating in Youth Day Camp(camp site Oak View Center), Camp Runamuck, and Teen Camp have the opportunity to register for the Early Riser Before Camp program. Campers will get a jump start on their day with camp activities, group games, playground time and independent quiet time at the Oak View Center. Campers signing up for the Early Riser Before Camp need to register at the Oak View Center for their day camp site. There is no bus service to bring to other sites.

Night Owls Extended Camp(entering K - 8th grade)
 
Time: 2:30-6:00pm(offer 1.5 hr, 2.5 hr, and 3.5 hr extended camp)
Location: Oak View Center(4625 W. 110th St.)
Description:
Campers participating in Youth Day Camp(both camp sites), Camp Runamuck, and Teen Camp have the oppotunity to exted their camp hours with the Night Owl Extended Camp program.  The Night Owls program will provide group activities and games as well as independent time to make crafts. We'll also have enrichment programs once a week by brining in Oak Lawn Park District instructors. Campers will be bussed from other day camp sites to Oak View Center, where parents are responsible to pick them up. Late fees will be charged for any camper not picked up by their schedule pickup time. Snacks are provided and included in the fee.

INTERESTED IN WORKING FOR SUMMER YOUTH DAY CAMP
 
  • Site Director
    • Responsible for submitting all forms required (attendance, weekly planners, permission slips, incident/accident reports) to Day Camp Coordinator or Recreation Supervisor.
    • Responsible for meeting weekly with counselors to discuss items for upcoming week.
    • Supervise and be attentive to each individual child and camp counselor at site.
    • Critique all staff during the 4-week sessions with evaluations after completion of each session.
    • Must obtain CPR and First aid certifications
  • Camp Counselor
    • Assist and initiate the planning and implementation of the daily camp activities. Must assist and take part in both games, activities, and crafts.
    • On a weekly basis, meet with site director to reivew the week's activities and plan the weekly planner. Each counselor is then responsible for creating a weekly day and rain planner filled with activities which will be turned in on time to the site directors on their meeting day.
    • Provide safe and productive environment at all times for campers and staff.
    • Must obtain CPR and First aid certifications
