FLASH - FUN AND LEISURE AFTER SCHOOL HOURS 

FLASH Recreation Leader
This is a part time/seasonal position that works directly with the participants and is directly responsible for leading daily activities and interacting with the participants at their assigned FLASH location. This may include a wide variety of responsibilities including supervision of participants, the set up and clean up of snack, games, crafts and activities and to contribute to lesson plans. SITE COORDINATOR

OVERVIEW
Good role models needed to work with elementary school-aged kids in our before and after school program called FLASH. Job requires working Monday - Friday. Site Directors must work both morning and afternoon shifts Monday-Friday on all school days and must be 21 years & older. 

Multiple positions are available
Must be responsible and reliable
No weekends
Work hours mesh perfectly with your school schedule

DESCRIPTION
The FLASH Site Coordinator position is a part time/seasonal position. The FLASH Site Director position is directly responsible for overseeing the daily operations at their assigned FLASH school location. This will include a wide variety of responsibilities including supervision of childcare staff and participants at their particular site, weekly preparation of lesson plans, communication with participants, their parents, school personnel, and his/her direct supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 21 years or older
Experience working with children ages K-8th grade.
Supervisory experience preferred
Must be available for both morning and afternoon shifts.

HOURS (Typical)
Morning Shift: 6:45AM - 8:45AM
Afternoon Shift: 3:00PM - 6:30PM

WAGE RANGE
Starting at $12/hour (DOQ)

ICE ARENA

  • • Applicants must have strong skating experience.
    • The skate guards are responsible for maintaining order and enforcing rules on and off the ice.
    • The skate guard is responsible for handing out skates and maintaining an organized atmosphere in the skate rental room.
    • The skate guard has a large amount of contact with the public.
    • The skate guards are also responsible for general custodial duties throughout the building during every shift, along with other duties not specified.
    • Applicant must be able to work evenings and varied weekend shifts. 
    • Applicant is required to acquire CPR/1st Aid/AED certification and attend other mandatory Park District trainings.

  • Guard Starting Wage:    $12.00 an hour
    • Guard staff are responsible for handing out skates and maintaining an organized atmosphere in the skate rental room.
    • Guard staff have a large amount of contact with the public.
    • Guards are also responsible for general custodial duties throughout the building during every shift, along with other duties not specified.
    • Applicant must be able to work evenings and varied weekend shifts. 
    • Applicant is required to acquire CPR/1st Aid/AED certification and attend other mandatory Park District trainings.

  • Scorekeeper for Adult League games Starting Wage:    $12.00 an hour
    • Applicants must have knowledge of the game of hockey
    • Scorekeepers must be detail-oriented and be able to multi-task during busy games
    • Scorekeepers are also responsible for general custodial duties to assist Supervisor-on-duty with cleaning the building before closing
    • Applicant must be able to work late weekday and weekend evenings
    • Applicant must be 18 years or older and available to work late evening shifts
    • Applicant is required to acquire CPR/1st Aid/AED certification and attend other mandatory Park District trainings.

  • Building Supervisor/Zamboni Driver  Starting Wage:   $14.00 an hour
    • Supervisor staff operate the Zamboni and related preparations to keep the ice clean, safe and on schedule
    • Performs and supervises routine custodial and general maintenance services
    • Supervises and assists staff with all duties necessary during the shifts
    • Must be able to work varied shifts, including afternoons, nights, and/or weekends
    • Must be detail-oriented and be able to multi-task
    • Must be 21 years of age with a current and valid Driver’s License

MARKETING

Marketing Internship

The Oak Lawn Park District is seeking qualified students with a Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations Major or Minor. The Marketing & Public Relations Intern will assist the Communications Department, and more specifically, the Marketing & Public Relations Supervisor with everyday communications.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Take pictures of programs, events, facilities, parks
Develop promotional materials such as press release, signs, coupons, flyers, banners, e-mail blasts, pamphlets, slideshows, videos, website, etc
Assist with obtaining sponsors/donors/advertisers
Measure marketing efforts through surveys and focus groups
Maintain social media presence and develop Park District presence on other social networks
Research parks and recreation trends
Order promotional items
Attend community meetings and events
Plan and implement special events and exhibitions
Help maintain a positive image of the Park District to the community

Maintenance Part-Time Position

The Oak Lawn Park District's Oak View Center is looking for an experienced maintenance person.  Part Time hours, (Saturdays & Sundays, Evenings shifts, Available to sub weekdays) please submit your resume/application to Todd Mallo, Building Manager. Front Desk Attendant

The Oak Lawn Park District (Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th Street) is seeking a qualified Front Desk Attendant.  The candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, integrity, and the ability to take initiative.  The individual must be responsible, organized, and posses excellent customer service skills.  The individual will be responsible for collecting and processing program registration, answering phones, assisting with the Oak Lawn Theatre Box Office and handling money.  The front desk at Oak View is open Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9am-3pm and Tuesday/Thursday, 11am-5pm.   Candidate must be able to work 10-30 hours per week, including some evenings working our community theater box office.  Applications can be filled out at the Oak View Center.  We will be accepting applications until the position is filled.

TITLE: Bus Driver
JOB DESCRIPTION:  
The Bus driver is responsible for Driving and keeping the bus clean and in good shape. The employee works under the direct supervision of the Special Recreation Supervisor.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 
Must obtain a CDL Drivers License. Must have 3 years of experience with driving with CDL and no prier records. 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works cooperatively with all other departments of the district to enhance the overall quality of all district programs and to promote department programs.
Obeys and enforces all practical safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the safety program this is pertinent it the activities conducted by the department.
Full up gas when needed.
Operating the bus over a prescribed route, and following the correct time schedule.
Carrying out regular weekly conditions checks on busses that are to be driven.

Compensation: $15.50/ hr

RECREATION INTERN

Note: If you are not a current student studying recreation, sports management or a related field you DO NOT qualify for an internship at the Oak Lawn Park District.

 
The Oak Lawn Park District is seeking qualified students interested in an internship in the field of Recreation, Sports Management or a related field. Candidates will currently be attending college or be a recent graduate with a major in recreation, outdoor recreation or related field.

Candidates must be responsible, motivated, should have the ability to manage time effectively and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Candidates should possess the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under the supervision of the administrative staff. The student will assist with the administration, supervision, and leadership of specified recreation and leisure activities of the internship. The duration of the internship is 12-16 weeks, but will ultimately be determined by the intern's school requirements. It is the student's responsibility to verify with their professors if the internship qualifies for college credit. Candidates should be prepared to work with children and adults. Candidates should have a valid driver's license and have transportation to work.
 
An intern can expect to get a wide variety of experiences by working at the Oak Lawn Park District Racquet, Fitness & Gymnastics Center, Stony Creek Golf Complex, Oak View Center, Community Pavilion, and Ice Arena. Applicants will be formally interviewed before an internship is offered. They will also be assigned to special events, athletics, community events, administrative tasks and other projects as necessary.
 
Final intern selections for each season will be made by the following dates: 
Spring Internship: December 1st
Summer Internship: April 1st
Fall Internship: August 1st
