Job Title: IT Support Technician

Description: The IT Support Technician works under the guidance of the Superintendent of Communications, who is responsible for the overall operation of the District’s computer system, its hardware, and all information system resources including but not limited to computers, networks, telephones, cell phones, and peripherals.  

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will be a mature, service driven individual who is responsible and reliable with strong customer service skills and a desire to learn.
  • Must be self-motivated and self-directed.
  • An Associate’s degree is preferred, or college level classes and experience in computer science or related technical field.
  • 1-2 years’ experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Confident, with proficient technical skills, in an environment that includes Microsoft  Exchange, Windows 7 & 10, Office 2010, Joomla CMS and VMWare; with aptitude to learn other applications as needed.
  • Effective writing and communication skills required.
  • Must be able to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy and remain calm during emergencies.

Duties: Under the direction and supervision of the Supt. of Communications, the IT Support Technician will provide desktop and hardware support for end users. Duties include, but are not limited to: troubleshooting, PC maintenance and repair, installing and upgrading hardware/software as well as network and peripheral equipment. This includes providing documentation, equipment inventory and user assistance to organizational staff.

This is an at-will position. Obey and enforce rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Oak Lawn Park District. Performs other tasks as directed by the Supt. of Communications

Hours
Must be able to work 10 to 20 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday.
Due to the nature of this position it may sometimes be necessary to work evening or weekend hours.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Function The Aquatics Assistant is responsible for the planning, organization and management of The Centennial Aquatic Center, Central Pool and aquatic programs.

 

Immediate Supervisor The Aquatics Coordinator reports directly to the Aquatic Supervisor.

 

Qualifications: Previous experience working in an aquatic setting. Red Cross Instructor Certification required or must have the ability to attain. AFO or CPO certification is a plus. Experience in the field of Parks and Recreation desired. But not required.

 

Knowledge of aquatic programming for youth, teens and adults.

 

Previous experience managing an aquatic facility and aquatic programs preferred.

 

Ability to hire, train and supervise staff to result in quality programs and customer service.

 

Ability to work effectively with all full-time, part-time and administrative staff.

 

Possess a valid driver’s license.

 

First Aid, CPR, and AED certified.

 

Manage, maintain, and promote district wide Aquatics programs; including but not limited to swim lessons, special events, and rentals.

 

Assist with the development and implementation of quality programs for all ages.

 

Assist with hiring, supervision and training seasonal employees to lead quality aquatic programs for the community.

 

Hire, supervise and train seasonal lifeguards, managers, cashiers.

 

Submit all required paperwork, as required, to Red Cross, Illinois Health Departments, PDRMA,

 

Coordinate Aquatic rentals and parties.

 

Practice exceptional public relations and customer service that promotes a positive image of the Park District.

 

Communicate with the Aquatic Supervisor on issues that are related to the Aquatic Assistant. This includes programming, public relations, budgets, staff supervision and training.

 

Maintain a working knowledge of all general and departmental-specific safety rules.

 

Actively support the safety program and related programs including following/enforcing safety rules, reporting accidents and injuries, and developing ideas for the prevention of future incidents.

 

Attend and actively participate in staff meetings.

 

Perform other duties as assigned by the Aquatic Supervisor.

Lifeguard 

The Oak Lawn Park District is now taking applications for Lifeguard Positions for the Summer 2017 Pool Season. Lifeguards are responsible to ensuring the safety of patrons including accident prevention in the water and on surrounding areas and the rescue and care of accident victims. Starting wage is $8.25 per hour. 

 Qualifications: 

  1. Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

  2. American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or the ability to obtain.

  3. American Red Cross CPR for the professional rescuer certification or the ability to obtain.

  4. Possess the ability to swim 500 yards continuously, tread water for two minutes and the ability to retrieve a 10-lb brick from the bottom of the deep well.

  5. Ability to relate to staff and patrons in a positive manner that represents our agency.

  6. Ability to work in a team atmosphere, promoting positive work relationships with both internal and external customers.

  7. Ability to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations.

Aquatic Fitness Instructor

We are currently recruiting individuals who are experienced instructors to teach aquatics fitness classes and sub as needed. These classes are generally weekdays early mornings during the summer and Saturday mornings year round. Specific classes needed covered are Monday mornings, from 9am-10am.

Part-time Maintenance Custodian

The Part-Time Maintenance Custodian position is responsible for the cleaning and routine maintenance work in the Community Pavilion and its immediate surrounding grounds. The employee is under the direct supervision of the maintenance supervisor.

  • Cleans adjacent grounds for litter and sweeps walks.

  • Setup and takedown of volleyball equipment, tables, chairs, party rentals, and other programs as needed.

Community Pavilion - Fitness Instructor

DESCRIPTION
A Community Pavilion Fitness Instructor position is part time. The Fitness Instructor is to design and conduct classes that are in the best interest of the participants in a safe manner. The fitness instructor is to be outgoing and professional in order to effectively motivate participants. Instructor must also be able to teach hour long class without leaving and be able to sub other classes when necessary.

Recreation Intern

Note: If you are not a current student studying recreation, sports management or a related field you DO NOT qualify for an internship at the Oak Lawn Park District.

 
The Oak Lawn Park District is seeking qualified students interested in an internship in the field of Recreation, Sports Management or a related field. Candidates will currently be attending college or be a recent graduate with a major in recreation, outdoor recreation or related field.

Candidates must be responsible, motivated, should have the ability to manage time effectively and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Candidates should possess the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under the supervision of the administrative staff. The student will assist with the administration, supervision, and leadership of specified recreation and leisure activities of the internship. The duration of the internship is 12-16 weeks, but will ultimately be determined by the intern's school requirements. It is the student's responsibility to verify with their professors if the internship qualifies for college credit. Candidates should be prepared to work with children and adults. Candidates should have a valid driver's license and have transportation to work.
 
An intern can expect to get a wide variety of experiences by working at the Oak Lawn Park District Racquet, Fitness & Gymnastics Center, Stony Creek Golf Complex, Oak View Center, Community Pavilion, and Ice Arena. Applicants will be formally interviewed before an internship is offered. They will also be assigned to special events, athletics, community events, administrative tasks and other projects as necessary.
 
Final intern selections for each season will be made by the following dates: 
Spring Internship: December 1st
Summer Internship: April 1st
Fall Internship: July 1st
 
Please note that internship positions are open until filled and we may be able to accept applications after these deadlines.
