Whether you are looking for a new hobby, relaxation or to broaden your interests, the park district offers classes in drawing, painting, crafts and creative writing. We also offer French language classes.
Clubs at the Oak View Center
Sign up for one of our many clubs! Beverly Hills Embroiderers’, Bridge, Greater Oak Lawn Senior’s, Hickory Hills Woodworkers, Oak Lawn Garden, and Table Tennis all welcome new members.
Looking for water fitness classes? The buoyancy of the water takes pressure off painful joints while strengthening and toning muscles. Choose from Water Aerobics, Water Walk and Tone, Total Aqua Fitness, Swim Lessons, Lap Swim, Aqua Jogging and Adult Only Open Swim. Aquatics utilizes Richard’s High School Pool, the Centennial Aquatic Center and Central Pool.
We offer a wide variety of fitness classes. No Jump Aerobics, Seniorcise, Meditation, Yoga, Pilates, and T’ai Chi are only a sampling of what we have available—there is something for every interest and fitness level. Classes are held at the Oak View Community Center and the Community Pavilion.
Our renowned Theater Program produces four musical productions each year.
Golf at Stony Creek
Enjoy the day with a round of golf at our 18 hole course. We offer weekday senior specials, golf simulators and miniature golf. Stay for lunch or dinner at our clubhouse. More information at www.golfstonycreek.com.

Stony Creek hosts special events throughout the year —Wine tastings, Fish Fry Fridays, and live music from all genres.
Trips and Tours
Looking for a mini getaway? We offer trips and tours to local and surrounding areas in addition to concerts and dinner shows.
Want to lose weight, get healthy, or build muscle? Personal trainers are available by appointment at the Racquet Center and the Pavilion.
We offer a wide range of beginner dance classes for all ages. Learn Ballroom dance or try Latin or Swing dancing.
Adult tennis drills and classes run year round on our indoor air-conditioned /heated tennis courts. We offer instructional classes, 55 & over leagues for men and women and drop-in drills for the beginner to the competitive tennis player. Memberships are also available for the Tennis, Racquet and Fitness Center. Tennis is a Lifetime Sport!
Looking to reduce stress, increase circulation or detoxify over-exerted muscles? We have a massage therapist available by appointment at the Community Pavilion.
Healthy Bodies/Healthy Minds is open to veterans of all ages with a DD214 honorable Discharge and 10% or higher disability rating. The program includes 10-hour long free personal training sessions and social activities. Please contact Jacqueline Canty, Veteran Service Coordinator at 708-857-2200.
Friends and Family CPR is a non-certification class that teaches skills necessary to act in an emergency with loved ones and friends.
Fitness Centers Senior Memberships
The park district has two fitness centers located at the Racquet, Fitness, and Gymnastics Center and the Community Pavilion. Choose from a variety of machines such as treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, and steppers. The Fitness Centers also offer free weights as well as strength machines. Enjoy the fitness amenities at the Community Pavilion and the Racquet Center at a discounted cost . Contact either facility for membership rates.
Community Pavilion Babysitting
Keeping an eye on the grandkids, but don’t want to miss your workout? Bring the kids to the Community Pavilion and leave them in the nursery with our staff and enjoy a worry free workout!
Indoor/Outdoor Walking Track
Participants are able to walk year round on the indoor walking track at the Community Pavilion. There is also a lighted outdoor track.
