Two Longtime Oak Lawn Park District Board Commissioners to Retire
Commissioner Donna McCauley and Commissioner Gary Callahan are set to retire from the Oak Lawn Park District Board at the May 10th, 2021 Board Meeting.
Donna McCauley served for 24 years and Gary Callahan served for 20 years. Both McCauley and Callahan have been involved in multiple achievements at the Park District.
McCauley and Callahan played pivotal roles in the updating of several parks including Patrick Sullivan Park, Columbus Manor, Centennial Park, Memorial Park, Worthbrook Park, Commissioners Park, and Little Wolfe.
They were also crucial in advocating facility additions and improvements such as the Community Pavilion expansion, new maintenance facility, and the Centennial Aquatics Center addition.
Along with supporting park district programs, special events, and services, they encouraged the Park District to obtain National Accreditation and Illinois Distinguish Agency Accreditation which led to the Oak Lawn Park District being the first agency in Illinois to hold both accreditations at the same time.
"Donna and Gary have been tremendous assets to the Oak Lawn Park District Board of Commissioners and to the community,” said Board President Mary Pat Coughlin. “They are passionate about offering top notch recreational services, parks, and facilities to our patrons. Their dedication to the parks and recreational field has always been admirable, and their presence will truly be missed.”
New Commissioners Jim Buschbach Jr. (6 year term), Ryan Donahue (6 year term), and Daniel Johnson (4 year term) will be sworn in at the May Board Meeting.
