Would you like to help pollinators in the parks?  Every garden in the parks is planned to be a haven for pollinators of every kind. Adopt a flowerbed in one of our 30 parks/ facilities and help beautify your park district. 

Who can adopt a garden? Gardeners, families, scout troops, clubs, groups of friends and you can adopt a flowerbed and care for it in memory of a loved one. 

The park district landscape crew will prepare your garden for planting and provide you with flowers. We provide the flowers, and do bed preparation and (limited) watering. Planting, weeding, and some watering are your responsibility from the end of May through the month of September. Your name or the name of your garden will be featured on a sign in your garden. This program is approved for Illinois Master Gardener Volunteer hours. You will be required to attend a mandatory Volunteer meeting in May before you are assigned to flower pick-up.

You may choose the garden from the list on the adoption form but beware; this program is first-come, first-served. Fill out the adoption form early. They are due to the Maintenance office by March 1st. The forms will be available at the maintenance office, facility front desks, and on the park district website.
