Instructors and Program Ideas Wanted

  • Do you have a passion for working with children? Do you have a unique skill that you would like to teach today’s tots? Do you have any creative ideas for programs for tots that encourage creative thinking, social development, or teach a new concept or idea?
  • The Oak Lawn Park District is currently looking to add Tot Instructors to offer new and exciting programs for children aged 1-5. 
  • Job Summary
    o Tot Instructor is under the Recreation Supervisor, and is responsible for creating a positive environment within the classroom that will stimulate a child’s intellectual, physical and emotional growth and health. The instructor is also responsible for creating productive and imaginative lesson plans to be implemented in their classroom. The instructor must serve as a team member and work in cooperation with other instructors, aides and all other personnel of the Oak Lawn Park District. The Instructor must have good verbal skills, good organization skills and good supervisory skills. The instructor serves as a nurturing and positive role model for children.
  • Programs should be designed in accordance with guidelines for face coverings and group sizes. Additionally, cleaning and sharing of supplies must be considered so that the safety of participants is maximized. 
  • Program Options
    o Classes may be meet 1, 2 or 3 days a week and can range from 45 minutes to 2 ½ hours. 
    o Classes must be scheduled during Oak View operating hours (Monday-Friday 9am-8pm). Weekend classes are a possibility but would need to be approved by the Facility Manager.
    o Programs will be designed primarily for the child to be on their own, however we have offer Parent and Tot Classes in the past where both actively participate in the program.

Programs:

Both Junior and Senior Programs will be offered at the Oak View Center (4625 W. 110th Street)

Our preschool programs are designed to introduce your 3 and 4 year old to math, science, language arts, music, and art in a multisensory and developmentally appropriate program, while incorporating social skills and creative development

* Both Programs will follow all State and Local Guidelines in regards to class sizes, social distancing, and face coverings throughout the duration of the program. As a result the program may be adapted to meet any changes that occur in regards to guidelines and best practices. 

Junior Program, 3 years old as of September 1st 2021 (614401-2)

September 14th 2021- May 19th 2022
Tuesday/Thursday 9am-2pm
Goals:
• 1st Name Recognition
• Pencil and Scissor Grip
• A-Z Letter Recognition
• 1-10 Number Recognition
• Basic Color and Shape Recognition
• Strong Emphasis on Social Skills

Senior Program, 4 year olds as of September 1st 2021 (614401-1)

September 13th 2021- May 20th 2022
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9am-2pm
Goals:
• First and Last Name Recognition
• Recognize and Write Alphabet in Upper and Lowercase
• Count to 100
• Recognize 1-20
• Number Concepts 1-20
• Basic Color and Shape Recognition
• Rhyming, Opposites, and Word Family Recognition
• Strong Emphasis on Social Skills

Registration

• Registration must be completed in-person at the Oak View Center
• To register all participants must be fully potty trained. A copy of the participants’ birth certificate is required at registration. Payment may be paid in full at registration or there is an option to pay 20% at registration and sign up for automatic payment each month in October-January for 20% each month

• Fees:
o Junior Program: Resident-$1,650 Non-Resident-$1,800
o Senior Program: Resident -$2,500 Non-Resident-$2,750

Important Dates:
o Priority Registration: Jan. 11th-29th 
o Resident Registration: Feb. 1st 
o Non-Resident: Feb. 15th 
o Deadline: July 1st 2021

Dates:

Each Family will have a 10 minute time slot to view the classroom, meet the staff, and ask any questions
