Preschool 2020-2021 Update

The Oak Lawn Park District will be offering Preschool in a new way this year. 

Classes will be offered at the Oak View Center (4625 W. 110th Street) and will run from 9:00am-2:00pm.
There will be two offerings, Juniors (3 year olds as of September 1st) and Seniors (4 year olds as of September 1st).
Juniors will be offered Tuesday and Thursday, while Seniors will be offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

This program’s curriculum will be based on the Illinois Early Learning Standards and will focus on preparing your child for Kindergarten in a group setting. There will be various themes and holiday activities throughout the year. This program will have limited availability and may be expanded or adjusted based on a number of variables that may affect the program. Any changes or adjustments will be communicated prior to being implemented. 

The program will follow all State and Local Guidelines in regards to social distancing and face coverings throughout the duration of the program. As a result the program may be adapted to meet any changes that occur in regards to guidelines and best practices. 

Registration dates will be July 27th for Residents and August 10th for Non-Residents. To register all participants must be fully potty trained. A copy of the partici¬pants’ birth certificate is required at registration. Payment may be paid in full at registration or there is an option to pay 20% at registration and sign up for automatic payment each month in September-January for 20% each month.

Tot Instructors Wanted

Do you have a passion for working with children? Do you have a unique skill that you would like to teach today’s tots? Do you have any creative ideas for programs for tots that encourage creative thinking, social development, or teach a new concept or idea?

The Oak Lawn Park District is currently looking to add Tot Instructors to offer new and exciting programs for children aged 1-5. 

Job Summary
Tot Instructor is under the Recreation Supervisor, and is responsible for creating a positive environment within the classroom that will stimulate a child’s intellectual, physical and emotional growth and health. The instructor is also responsible for creating productive and imaginative lesson plans to be implemented in their classroom. The instructor must serve as a team member and work in cooperation with other instructors, aides and all other personnel of the Oak Lawn Park District. The Instructor must have good verbal skills, good organization skills and good supervisory skills. The instructor serves as a nurturing and positive role model for children.

Programs should be designed in accordance with guidelines for face coverings and group sizes. Additionally, cleaning and sharing of supplies must be considered so that the safety of participants is maximized. 

Program Options
Classes may be meet 1, 2 or 3 days a week and can range from 45 minutes to 2 ½ hours. 
Classes must be scheduled during Oak View operating hours (Monday-Friday 9am-8pm). Weekend classes are a possibility but would need to be approved by the Facility Manager.
Programs will be designed primarily for the child to be on their own, however we have offer Parent and Tot Classes in the past where both actively participate in the program.
