The Oak Lawn Park District is excited to invite the community to the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Oak Meadows Park on Monday, June 9, at 6:00 pm. The event will take place at the newly renovated park, located at 99th & 51st Ave.
Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate the completion of the project at one of Oak Lawn’s valued neighborhood parks. The park features brand new playground equipment, designed for both toddlers and older children creating a more enjoyable and accessible space for all ages. Additionally, new amenities include:
- Multi-Use Sports Field
- Pollinator Garden
- Rain Garden
- Bird Habitat
- Shelter with lights and picnic tables
- Benches
- ADA game tables
- Bike racks
“We are thrilled to officially open this park to the community as we took a lot of their feedback an incorporated it into the design,” said Tom Hartwig, Executive Director. “The new playground is truly one-of-a-kind, and we are excited to see kids enjoying the new zipline, and all the other new features the park has to offer.
The process to renovate this park began in 2023 when Oak Lawn Park District held two Community Input Meetings and incorporated feedback into the design. Additionally, the path that loops around the park fills a need that is consistently ranked high by residents as a result of Community Needs Surveys. Funding for the project was made possible thanks to a $600,000 matching grant the Park District received in 2024 as part of the Open Space Land Acquisition & Development Grant (OSLAD) program.
The event will include brief remarks from Park District staff, a ceremonial ribbon cutting, followed by guests having the opportunity to explore the new features of the park.
