Placement for you child
We suggest you register your child for the level they are currently registered for the current session If your child does advance to the next level, and you have already signed up for the next session please stop by the front desk to have them transferred or email d.white@olparks.com. Classes fill very quickly. To ensure placement in your desired day/time slot please have your child transferred or sign up today!
Student Skill Charting
The Oak Lawn Park District’s Gymnastics and tumbling programs chart our participant’s progress online using myskillchart.com. This software allows your child’s instructor to track skills through a shared online portal that parents will be to able access as soon as the class’s skill charting is complete during week 10 of the session. There are approximately 20-30 required skills to move from one level to the next in gymnastics or tumbling. Each of these skills are important to help your child reach their goals as a gymnast or as an athlete. It is not uncommon for a child to spend up to a year in a level. If your child moves to the next level, you will need to reschedule your child’s class by stopping at the front desk or emailing Deirdre at d.white@olparks.com.
You will not be automatically transferred to the next level. Students are evaluated during weeks 9 and 10 of each session. Questions about your child’s progression can be discussed with their instructor.
Class Evaluation Process
- We use on online skill charting program to evaluate progress of our student in our Preschool and School aged Gymnastics and tumbling programs.
- Student evaluations will take place towards the end of each session. Once a child has mastered all the required skills they will be promoted to the next level for the next session of classes.
- Students will be notified if they are promoted to next level when evaluations are completed.
- You should always register your child for the next session in the level they are currently working in. If they need to be moved to the next level after you registered please contact d.white@olparks.com or stop by the front desk to have your child transferred to the next level.
- For further information, please contact Jori Oczkowicz at joczkowicz@olparks.com or Carly Mannix at cmannix@olparks.com
