Free Monarch Festival Set for August 26

Save the date for the Oak Lawn Park District’s free Monarch Festival on Saturday, August 26 from 1:00-4:00 pm at the Oak View Center & Museum (4625 W. 110th St.). This event is suited for all ages.

The purpose of this event is to celebrate the journey of the Monarch Butterfly and bring much needed awareness to the issues they face today and as they migrate to Mexico. There will be fun and educational activities for all ages that include: 

  • Butterfly Arts & Crafts

  • Caterpillar Aquarium

  • Interactive Migration Game

  • Educational Booths

  • Movie on Butterfly Migration to Mexico

  • Native Plant, Seed, and Local Honey Vendors

  • Music & more!

“Monarch Festival continues to be on of our favorite and most impactful events, said Tom Hartwig, executive director. “Those that attend not only have fun, learn about the importance of the monarch, its impact on our environment, and what they can do to preserve and improve the world around us.”
