Starting in March of this year, the Oak Lawn Park District launched an infrastructure project aimed to update and maintain current facilities. Projects includes a major renovation to the Oak Lawn Ice Arena, replacement of numerous parking lots, and upgrades to portions of the Community Pavilion.

Parking lot replacements have been completed at the Administrative Building/Central Pool, Stony Creek Golf Course, and Centennial Aquatic Center. Starting Monday, August 11, construction will begin to the parking lot at the Community Pavilion. During this time, the west entrance will be closed. Patrons will have to use the east entrance of the lot, near Centennial Aquatic Center (9359 Nashville Ave.)

Additionally, renovation to the Community Pavilion will begin starting Monday, August 25. This project includes updated the locker rooms on the first floor, second floor bathrooms, new flooring to the weight room and multi-purpose room, and installing a new chiller.

The Oak Lawn Ice Arena project also began in March. Upgrades to the facility include a brand-new Olympic-sized ice surface, new dasherboards, and all-new mechanical systems. While the initial plan was to re-open the rink on September 2, a ground settlement issue was discovered just prior to pouring concrete for the flooring system underneath the ice. This has unfortunately led to a delay in progress. The new tentative re-open date is now projected for late September.

As a result of this delay, registration for skating lessons will be paused there is a confirmed reopening date. Once that date is finalized, there will be an announcement with details about fall skating programs, open skate dates, and birthday party/rental information.
