Take Time For Fun & Education!

Come hang out with your friends during the week as we do all sorts of fun activities. We will do some traditional learning, skill building, and community outings. Participants must be able to function in a 4:1 participant to staff ratio and have independent self-help skills. The Oak Lawn Park District reserves the right to determine if this program is appropriate for an individual. Appropriate behavior must be demonstrated so as not to detract from other participants’ experiences

Participation Eligibility:

• There are specific eligibility requirements participants must meet to attend SRU.
• Staff will assess each participant’s ability to participate in SRU while following these guidelines. Staff will continue to assess each participant’s ability as needed throughout the SRU session. At any point if a participant cannot follow these guidelines, staff will reassess their eligibility for SRU.
• Ability to participate in SRU activities with minimal visual and verbal prompting.
• Ability to adapt to changes in SRU schedule.
• Ability to independently attend to personal care (i.e. toileting, feeding, hygiene, hand over hand, lifting/transferring, and hand washing/using sanitizer). Staff will assist with verbal prompting, if needed.
• Ability to be responsible for own personal items with verbal prompts or reminders.
• Ability to stay in safe proximity to group and refrain from elopement or wandering.
• Ability to refrain from physically aggressive behaviors such as biting, spitting, scratching, hitting, kicking, etc. or behaviors that require direct or close proximity intervention from staff

Important Information:

• *A minimum of 15% of the total program fees is due at the time of registration (no exceptions) to hold your participant’s spot.
• NO registrations will be accepted after the registration deadline due to staffing requirements.
• ALL registration fees must be paid for to begin the session of SRU.  NO EXCEPTIONS.
• Once a participant is enrolled, fees will not be adjusted or refunded due to vacation time, planned absences, suspension or expulsion from programs, etc.
