Ice Arena Notice – Closing for Renovations
The Oak Lawn Ice Arena has been close since the end of March to undergo a major renovation. Improvements to the facility include a new ice surface, with new dasherboards, and netting. During this time, facility rentals, including birthday parties and private ice time, will be unavailable.
We apologize for any inconveniences during this time, but we look forward to opening back up this fall.
Oak Lawn Park District ice skating classes are structured to create a positive, fun and healthy environment for skaters of all ages and abilities. We strive to inspire in participants a sense of personal accomplishment along with a life-long passion for skating, while challenging each student to reach their full potential. From three-years-old to adults, our lessons provide you with the foundation for Figure Skating classes, Hockey or Recreational skating.
Lessons are presented in a logical progression whereby a skater builds upon skills achieved in the preceding level. After showing proficiency of the skills in one level, a student may proceed to the next. Although taught in a group atmosphere, each skater is different and progresses at his/her own pace. Our curriculum works in conjunction with both the United States Figure Skating (USFS) Basic Skills Program and the International Skating Institute (ISI) “WeSkate” program.
We offer private figure skating or hockey skating lessons to skaters of all ages and skating abilities. Taking private lessons from one of our skilled professionals allows you to improve your own skills faster and at your own rate of learning while preparing you to pass a new test level and/or participate in competitions and shows.
