The Oak Lawn Park District will be hosting a Community Input Meeting to gather feedback on potential improvements and amenities for the far east side of Centennial Park. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 9 at 6:00 pm. There will be renderings to view and time to discuss and ask questions.

The meeting will be held at the existing playground on the east side of Centennial Park, located at 9359 Nashville Ave, nearest Simmons Middle School and the Oak Lawn Fire Department. This will be the first of two input meetings. The second session, scheduled for later in July, will present a refined plan based on feedback gathered during the initial meeting.

“These meetings are vital to gather feedback from the community so we can provide the best possible park experience for everyone,” said Tom Hartwig, executive director. “We have seen the positive impact this process has with past projects, and we look forward to hearing what people have to say about Centennial Park.”

Community input has played a vital role in shaping many of the Park District’s recent projects. Public meetings were held during the planning phases of Oak Meadows Park, which officially opened on June 9, along with the Memorial Activity Center, which will celebrate its opening with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on July 14. Input was also gathered for Wolfe Wildlife, which completed its first phase of renovations earlier this year. Additionally, Lakeshore Park, slated for renovation in 2026, hosted two Community Input Meetings to ensure residents’ voices were heard during the planning process.
